A Study on the Confusion with the Perceptions of Case Management in Home Care Service for the Elderly

Abstract
The purposes of this study were to investigate the causes and current state of confusion with the perceptions of case management in the field of home care service for the elderly and to distinguish the roles of each subject for the activation of case management. For those purposes, the investigator applied the grounded theory approach, a qualitative research method, and conducted in-depth interviews with eight heads of home care service facilities for the elderly in Daegu Metropolitan City. This study identified the following core category: in the field of home care service for the elderly, "need for case management is on the rise due to changes to the social welfare approaches and criteria. There is confusion under the influence of will with the strong presence of ambiguity. If the confusion is resolved with standardization and systemization, case management will serve as an important practice method of social welfare to promote professionalism, economy, and quality of life."
